Moong Masala

The Indian spices add unique flavour to the dishes. No wonder the whole world goes bonkers over Indian food. Spicy!! Tasty!! Flavoured!! These are the words used by my dutch friends to describe Indian food.

Moong masala is spiced green gram dish. It is both healthy and tasty.

Ingredients:

  1. Green gram (soaked overnight)
  2. Onion
  3. Tomato
  4. Olive oil
  5. Sour Yoghurt (Greek or Turkish)
  6. Salt
  7. Turmeric
  8. Cumin powder
  9. Corianer powder
  10. Ginger
  11. Garlic
  12. MDH Curry powder (Garam Masala powder can be used as an alternative)
  13. MDH Kasuri methi (Dried Fenugreek leaves)
  14. Groundnut (Peanut) powder

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan
  2. Add chopped onion, salt and turmeric
  3. Fry till the onions turn golden brown and add grated garlic
  4. Add chopped tomato. Sprinkle some curry powder
  5. Add the soaked green gram
  6. Take yoghurt in a bowl and add cumin powder, coriander powder, curry powder, ginger and garlic(grated), kasuri methi. Mix them thoroughly
  7. Add the above to the pan. Cook for 10-15 min
  8. Sprinkle the groundut powder.

The green gram masala is ready to be served.

Tastes best with Chapathi (Indian bread).
